MUMS' DAY - the ad

the novice "graphic "designer"" that I am.. and not having a handle on the possibilities that abound with my adobe software,  it comes down to simplicity and being able to save in jpeg too!   Using a thought, a cool photo, mixing up words and making the message work.   The comment unbridled creativity was sent my way by an old friend and I sort of like that..  thanks kaj!

here's the ad.. and images from Cottage to follow. I wish I could figure out how to post more pictures onto one post..(maybe using smaller images?)!

MUMS' DAY @ Cottage

Cottage & I go way back.. {smiling}
Well, I knew the original owner Pam, who cheered me on when I began eg & she promoted my services within her shop, and now I have formed a friendship with its newest owner Emma!  Emma is a warm, wonderful, powerhouse of a woman who has contributed so much for the local community & then so so much more!   I wish I had her picture to post (noting to take one soon) and I've offered my talents to help her promote her wonderful shop that is located a hop, skip & jump from where I call home.

This past winter we paired up for her holiday launch, which we figured to theme as traditional English holiday since Emma is from across the pond! Sherry, warm plum pudding & delicious homemade mince tarts were offered to guests and fun crackers (the kind that pop when pulled apart and offering a little gift inside) were given to everyone who came through the doors.  It was a most wonderful evening, filled with people and the hours flew by.. and lots of purchases made!

Fast forward to spring and Mothers' Day!   Posting above & in no particular order - pictures of Cottage and the final look of  the ad promoting Mums' Day gift baskets..

Flowers & Fabric

The event has come and gone.. and thoughts of next year's looks & event play through my head! It was a most wonderful opportunity to work with Marla & Patricia.. and I shall let the images tell a bit of their story.

behind the lens

From a fairly young age, I was captured by photography - the visual impact, the recording of history, the ability to pass an actual moment from one generation to another.

Both my grandfather and father, it seemed, always had a camera on hand and I've been the lucky recipient of boxes & boxes & boxes of slides to sort through.  Back in the day, they knew how to use those tiny numbers on their cameras and the art of composition as they captured the most amazing shots - full of color and full of story.  I am digressing, which is so me, but wanting to tell this part of my story - this love for great photography; of capturing that one moment in time with bold color, with a softness, mixed with a bit of storytelling too.

I've become addicted, for a lack of a better term, to great photography and have become a follower of some amazing artists (both local & throughout the world). This past Christmas, my daughter found a cool little Canon, pocket-sized camera in her stocking.. which has been used quite heavily by me as I find my way back to being behind the lens.   Sharing some recent work that I've done to promote an event or two..

FLOWERS & FABRIC - the 2009 Pre-Prom Event

Ok, eg is back... it seems like only yesterday that the last post went up and funny how time really does fly.

So - since October 2007, a few events have happened and new friendships well, created! Two wonderful new friendships have been formed with two amazing fashion designers: Marla Duran and Patricia Johnson. Patricia and I have been working together since November promoting her floral design business: Patricia Johnson Floral Art. She works as a fashion designer in NYC, resides in Allentown and creates the most amazing bouquets and arrangements. Marla is a friend of Patricia's and apart from seeing her on Project Runway (season 2) I didn't know Marla until recently. Well.. they are fabulous women, artists, and have some very cool things to offer for this year's first endeavor into the prom season!

Flowers & Fabric is being held next Friday during Bethlehem's First Friday - and being hosted by Marla at her eclectic, cool studio on 3rd St.

You're invited to stop by the studio from 6-10 - meet Marla & Patricia and check out their design ideas for this year's prom.

Hope to see you there!

A year ago: A Sweet 16 photo shoot...

Mena's Sweet 16, featured on the eg site, included a pre-party photo shoot held at her home. Alison Conklin, a phenomenal photographer based in the Lehigh Valley, spent a Sunday afternoon getting to know Mena, capturing stunning images that were used for Mena's postcard invites & party favors
- cds with 16 of her favorite songs - designed by the fabulous Laura Brady of Completely Yours Design.

A huge thank you to WDIY - Lehigh Valley's local NPR station, and Ms. Eleanor Bobrow, who allowed me a most wonderful opportunity to be part of its Wednesday night feature: Take Charge of Your Life, hosted by Ellie. The showed, taped in Sept, ran last Wednesday and will have repeats that will be aired in the future. This was an amazing opportunity to discuss how "I've taken charge of my life", how eg came to life + the scoop on the culinary & cultural tour to Naples, Italy - CucinaN - slated for April '08 (more to come on that eg event.)

~ many thanks to my children, great friends and new explorations who keep me on track!
